Foundations | Dev log #1
We have talked about putting together a proper development log for Repressed for quite some time, and we're happy to finally share our first one.
Over the last several years, a lot of our time has gone into building, testing, rebuilding, and refining the systems that will eventually make up Repressed. More recently, we've also spent a significant amount of time defining the world itself, including the history of Blackmoor, the factions fighting over it, BioJynx, and the larger story we want players to uncover.
This dev log is our attempt to bring all of that together and provide a much clearer picture of what Repressed is today.
In the video, we take a look at several of the systems we've been working on, including inventory and equipment, weapons, ballistics, armor, medical gameplay, infiltration and extraction, world development, rendering, and optimization.
We also spend some time introducing Blackmoor and the story behind the world. This side of Repressed has evolved quite a bit over the years, and we finally feel like we have a strong foundation for both the gameplay and the story we want to tell.
There is still a lot left to build. Our current focus is bringing these systems together into a smaller vertical slice that we can use for internal playtesting, optimization, multiplayer testing, and further refinement of the core gameplay experience.
From there, we'll continue expanding the world, AI, quests, progression, items, creatures, and everything else that will eventually bring Blackmoor to life.
This dev log is really our starting point. It shows where Repressed has been, where it stands today, and gives us a foundation for sharing more of the development process going forward.
Thanks to everyone who has continued following the project.
